Privacy policy

KaamDo (“we”) is an app and website that helps people in India find skilled workers nearby (electricians, plumbers, carpenters, painters, helpers) and lets workers get work directly, with no commission. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal data.
What we collect
- Mobile number: to log you in with a one-time code (OTP) sent by SMS or WhatsApp.
- Name and language you choose.
- Workers only: a live selfie (your profile photo), skills, experience, rate, languages, “about” text, work photos you add, whether you are available today, your work location (GPS) and travel radius.
- Customers: your location while you search, to show workers near you.
- Chats you send in the app, reviews you write, and reports and blocks you make.
- Activity we count: profile views and Call / WhatsApp / Chat taps, so workers can see how many people contacted them, and “last seen” time for “Online” in chat.
- Device token: to send phone notifications (new message, new review).
What stays on your phone
The selfie checks (one clear face, no glasses, blink, head turn) and the check that work photos are not adult content run on your phone. The camera video is not uploaded; only the final photo you save is.
What others can see
- A worker’s public profile shows name, photo, skills, experience, rate, languages, area name, distance, rating, reviews and work photos. It is visible in the app and on kaamdo.com.
- A worker’s exact location is never shown, only the area name and distance.
- A worker’s phone number is given only to a logged-in user who taps Call or WhatsApp, and that tap is recorded. It is not shown on the website.
- Chats can be read only by the two people in them.
- Reviews show the reviewer’s first name only.
Why we use your data
To run KaamDo: log you in, show workers near customers, let people contact each other, send notifications, keep the service safe (reports, blocks, removing abuse) and improve the app. We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell it.
Where it is stored and who helps us
- Supabase: our database and photo storage, in the Mumbai (India) region.
- Google Firebase: delivers phone notifications.
- SMS / WhatsApp providers (for example MSG91, Meta): deliver your login code.
- Vercel: hosts this website.
These providers process data only to provide their service to us.
Aadhaar
KaamDo does not ask for, and never stores, your Aadhaar number or documents. If identity verification is added in the future, it will work through DigiLocker, and we will only store that you are verified.
How long we keep data
We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, photos, chats, reviews you wrote, and the rest of your account data. Some records may stay for a short time in backups, or longer if the law requires it (for example, a report about a serious safety issue).
Your choices
- Edit your name, language and work profile any time in the app (My profile).
- Turn notifications off in your phone’s settings.
- Block or report anyone from a chat or profile.
- Delete your account in the app (My profile → Delete my account) or on our delete account page.
Children
KaamDo is for people aged 18 and over.
